Description

The Kassari manorial estate was founded in the early 18th century. Since 1758 its owners were the family of von Stakcelberg.
The historical Kassari Manor house was a wooden building which was burnt down in 1928.. There are old manager`s house and a number of other manorial buildings survived. In the 1920s the Kassari manor was given to the local school, and a little later also the library and the post-office were opened there.
Since 1967 there are the premises of the Hiiumaa Museum exposing the daily life of the Hiiumaa islanders over times. One may have  a nice walk in the surroundings, reaching to the historical gardener’s house, store-houses and the mill, an old oak–tree and look at the sea from the place of a pavillion where the noble ladies used to have a cup of coffee.
