Apraksts

The main building, in Early Neoclassicist style, was commissioned by Otto Friedrich von Stackelberg in 1786. He asked the renowned architect Johann Schultz, to design this building. Schultz’s most famous work is the Toompea Castle in Tallinn. The - very high quality interiors – the enfilade of the pink hall and blue salon have survived today. The elegant stucco décor of the blue salon was made by the Bohemian master Karl Kalubka. The lord of the manor was an educated and well-travelled man who also sought to better the lot of the peasants. He even admonished parents – often with threat of punishment – to enrol their children in school. Of the village schools of that era, Roosna-Alliku was a little more progressive, as writing was already taught there.
